Satellite Imagery from Expedio
The resource industry relies on accurate and timely geospatial data. Imagery solutions help resource companies identify and interpret geological and topological data. Vegetation, soils, geology, topography and infrastructure can be mapped from these images, and they can also be used to assist in infrastructure planning.
On an ongoing basis, satellite images assist you to monitor progress, rehabilitation and to help ensure regulatory compliance.
Satellite images are invaluable in the processes of extracting and analysing data in all stages of the mining exploration and development cycle. Satellite imagery can be combined with vector or raster data in a GIS when the imagery has been spatially rectified so that it can properly align with other data sets.
Expedio can source and supply high-resolution satellite images from Digital Globe, which can be customised to your exact requirements. DigitalGlobe can produce images with a resolution of 0.5 metres in panchromatic, or 2.4 metres in multispectral mode from their Worldview and Quickbird satellites.
Expedio offer a full end-to-end satellite imagery solution:
Upon receiving an imagery request, Expedio will first check to see if relevant images can be extracted from archives - if not then we will organise acquisition of new images. Expedio will then pan-sharpen the images so that the client obtains the maximum benefit.
Expedio can also combine the satellite imagery with a corrected SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) dataset to produce a regional scale DTM (Digital Terrain Model).
